Here is the March update from Age Concern (Costa de la Luz Sur) or “Age Concern CLS” for short.
Firstly, our new president Bob Hamilton attended the Age Concern España AGM; he presented our business plan and we were granted a provisional one year observer member status. We are in the process of setting up our own bank account (not an easy task to get all the necessary pieces of paper) so we can obtain all the monies we paid into the Age Concern (España) bank over the last couple of years.
Our next big step is to recruit and train volunteers; we need people to step forward to be trained to be able to respond to the calls for help we will be receiving. Full training in all aspects will be given in English locally, and will include what Age Concern CLS can and cannot help with. If you would like to volunteer, please send an email to

I perhaps should add that we are in talks with a local telephone company to set up a single telephone number for all requests for help; this number will be manned weekdays during office hours and will be published just as soon as we have people that can help.
Even if you cannot volunteer to help others, you can become a “Friend of Age Concern CLS” by donating what you can afford; in return you will receive our monthly newsletter, and discounted priority for our forthcoming events. Once more please write to

Please support the following events, as some of the proceeds will be donated to Age Concern CLS:
* Sunday 1st April; a Boot Sale near Popeyes restaurant in La Barrosa at 10 a.m.
* A Quiz night at Casa Blas / Venta Sorpresa in Pago del Humo on Monday 9th April, starting at 2015.
