As a result of feedback from our members, and indeed people who are considering joining the Association, the Committee have been deliberating for some time on the issue of Membership Fees.
Clearly there seems to be concern that they have been set too high. Whilst the Association is a non-profit making organisation, it is obviously important that we maintain sufficient funds to be able to carry on with the day to day running of business in order to comply with our Aims and Objectives. Equally it is just as important that we increase our numbers. We can raise money from three main areas, annual fees, fund-raising through social events and sponsorship/donations, however in order for us to be able to reduce the first, we have to ensure that we can survive on the second and third.
After long and due consideration the Committee is pleased to announce, that as a result of the generosity of our current membership and those non-members who have supported this year's social events, we are able to reduce the Annual Membership fees for the period 1st January 2009 to 31st December 2009 to €10 per person. This fee will apply to each member in a household, so for a couple it will be 20 euros (over 18's only).
This means that when current members receive their renewal notices, one year after the date of their joining, they will be able to benefit from the substantial fee reduction. Naturally we hope that this new arrangement will encourage more to join us.
I would like to thank all of our current members who have placed their faith, and their money, in what we are trying to achieve. It is through your support that we have been able make substantial progress over the last six months since becoming a legal entity, and as a Committee we are determined to move the Association onwards and upwards. Please continue to support us in the future as generously as you have done so far.
Chairman for and on behalf of the Association Committee
