Hi Folks,
Driving Licences.
If you are resident in Spain, then you need to change
your driving licence before 31st December 2020 OR face having to take
a driving test in the Spanish language in 2021 i.e. after Brexit.
I have just spoken to JA, the ChiFRA solicitor; he has
been trying to get appointments for people to change their driving licences and
has had to have a meeting with the DGT (Director General Trafico) to ascertain
what the problem was.
Normally to exchange your British licence for a
Spanish licence, you would ask for canje; now they are saying that there are
only one or two appointments a day for “canje”, they suggest you ask for “Conductores”
which is drivers.
However, the DGT suggested that it would be better to
have a group that want to change their licences rather than individuals. Therefore,
if you need to change your British licence to a Spanish one, please contact JA

minimum stress.

Hola,
Blevins Franks supply us with interesting articles but the latest two have some very wise words.
Either the green card or the TIE serves as valid
proof of legal residence in Spain. However, it is crucial to understand that
obtaining a residence document in itself is not enough to guarantee ongoing
freedom of movement and benefits in Spain from 2021.
Note also that in becoming legally resident in Spain, you will
very likely also be deemed tax resident and liable for Spanish taxation on a
worldwide basis, so it is important to get your tax planning in order. For the best results, take specialist advice about the next
steps, ideally before you change residence or transfer assets.
And again, something that had not occurred to me. Please note
that UK advisers may not be authorised to continue advising you as an EU
resident after the transition period, so please check with your advisor.

Hi Folks,
Blevins Franks have just written an informative article on the length of time you can stay in Spain without incurring the penalty of having to pay tax in Spain.
If you are normally resident in the UK but cannot return due to the Coronavirus pandemic, then this article is for you. Please click the word "Finance" on the top banner of this page and you will be taken to the article.

Health professionals from La Longuera, in
Chiclana, test positive for coronavirus
The Satse union denounces the delay in
carrying out the tests and obtaining the results, something that may have
caused more infections and calls for measures to prevent the staff
of these centres from continuing to work in these conditions.
The Satse Nursing Union, in Cádiz, has
publicly denounced "the state in which different centres in the province
are located, and among them the La Longuera emergency centre", in Chiclana,
facing the current health alert.
As highlighted by the union, in this
centre several professionals have already tested positive for coronaviruses,
professionals who, in some of the cases, reported symptoms several days ago and
were notified on Wednesday of the positive result of their tests.
"This delay, both in the taking of
samples and in the delay in issuing the results, has meant that many of his
colleagues have not been isolated with the necessary haste, in order to break
the chain of infections," they continue to denounce, stressing that,
according to the data revealed by the Andalusian Government, 21% of
positive cases in our community are healthcare. "
As Satse laments, "We present the
highest rate in the entire state. This is as much attributable to the lack of
individual protection means, as to the delay in carrying out the diagnostic
tests."
